Donoghue

I would appreciate some help in discovering where my great-great-grandfather was from in Ireland. He was James Donoghue, born in 1819, possibly on St. Patrick's day. Our family bible said that he immigrated to Ontario, Canada with his parents and siblings (no date) when his father (name unknown) was given land near Georgian Bay in Ontario for his "service in the British Army."

I have found other Donoghues arriving in Ontario by ship in 1825 and 1823. But no child named James. The ship records show all of these Donoghues were from Cork county. Perhaps someone could nudge me in the right direction as far as further research, if not familiar with the name in that area.

Thank you,
Katy Hinegardner
