Irish/Scottish Hey..
My name is Robyn Lesley Smith, I know Robyn with a 'Y' is gaelic, and Lesley is scottish.. obviously Smith is fairly generic.. My mother's maiden name is Rodgers (North Irish), my grandmothers were Gillie (Scottish) and Higgins (Irish).. am I correct in this? How would I find my family clan? Robyn Lesley Depends on whether you are descended from Irish Smiths or English Smiths. The English version is an occupational and not a clan name while the Irish version is a translation of MacGabhann. Higgins is derived from one of the Irish words for a Norseman by the way.
