Mike Madden

I am the great grand daughter of Mike Madden circa 1848. He was a famous bare knuckle boxer who held 2 records for the longest fight. We know he came from Ireland to the East End of London where he married and had 7 children. He died fairly young after being crushed by a horse as my grandmother was orphaned at the age of 14. If anyone has any information they would be willing to pass on I would be gratefully

I'm also related to him. He's either my great great grandfather or gg uncle. I'm in the early stages of researching the family history, having spent last week with an 84 yr old aunt, who knows/remembers what she was told re the family when she was young.

She thinks he died around 1880. Her story is that it was James Madden (MM's son/nephew?) who was injured by a horse whilst being a hackney cab driver. maybe we can swap sources.
