surname needs translating to isish please

Carroll-Noonan. you dont say if you are a male, a female married to, or a daughter of......THIS MATTERS.
Firstly it is incorrect to use 'double-barrell names in Irish...it does not work grammatically. All you can do is translate as you see it. Therefore.....

Mac Cearbhaill Ó Nuanáin (only if your Carrolls are from Leinster).
Mhic Cearbhaill Uí Nuanáin (if married to).
Nic Cearbhaill Ní Nuanáin (if a daughter of).

Another clan of Carrolls are from Ulster but use the same spellings as above.

Third clan of Carrolls, from Kilkenny, Louth and Offaly......Ó Cearbhaill Ó Nuanáin.
Uí Chearbhaill Ó Nuanáin (married to).
Ní Chearbhaill Ní Nuanáin (daughter of).

Fourth clan from Leitrim. Same as above.
Fifth clan from Kerry, same as above.

All five clans are seperate, individual and NOT related.

McCrone is a shortened form of McCrohan = Mac Criomhthainn. Mhic Criomhthainn (married to), Nic Criomhthainn (daughter of).
