The O'Dea clan emerged from County Clare in Ireland. There is an O'Dea Castle at Dysert O'Dea, just south of the town of Corofin in Clare.

The best source of information on the family is "O'Dea: Ua Déaghaidh: The Story of a Rebel Clan", a book by Risteárd Ua Cróinín.

Although there appear to be duplicate website links presented in my answer, above, the links do in fact lead to six sites, and not three as appears to be the case.

Though I typed six URLs, they did not appear spelled out at length as I entered them, but click on all six links above for a full complement of sources.

(Damn fool website, this one.)
