Transfixed but not dead

I know my family motto is "transfixus sed non mortuus" and it means " peirced but not dead", however I am looking for any information about the origin of the motto. I would like to know what significant event took place that lead to the creation of this motto. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
