Hi Jac
I'm researching McGuires too. My group seem to have come from Cavan, although I keep reading that Fermanagh is the "McGuire County". First or my group - that I know of - to come to America was John, born 1844. He was followed by brothers Michael, James and Patrick. They settled in Concord, NH. I would love to know something about their father, also named John, who remained in Ireland, perhaps with other members of the family. I'm just beginning to search and have a lot to learn. I'll happily share what i discover, if it might be useful to you.
