Hi Rich,

depends from where your grandfather came - if Tipperary, a place called Toor, near Newport, then we're probably related. This is highly likely, as there were a lot of Lees there in the 18th and 19th centuries.

However, there's a lot of Lees - different sect, I believe - in County Galway.

And then there's the ones in Offaly!

Not counting the few in Cork and scattered elsewhere..

Good luck to you, possible distant cousin!

Regards Jacob Rowe ' s inquiry above, my name is also Rowe. Grandfather's given name was originally Alvie, but he changed it when family came over from Scotland. May have originated around Dumbartonshire. Family traditions/stories tell that they were highlanders. Grandmother's people were Irish family, Fry. She showed me a picture of the "Rowe" tartan (red, yellow, black, & white) when I was a child. Does anyone know more, or can direct me to the info? Reply to

What clan would William I have been from?

I can trace by lineage to King William (he was my 22nd great-grandfather) and would love to look up any clan information I can but of course, I need to know what clan to look up...

Also, Robert the Bruce?

I am also related to Robert the Bruce but more like 2nd cousin, 22 times removed, or something like that.

William I, King of Scottland

We are also looking to find our clan, sept, and tartan. Very difficult. Cooke is the patriarch side of the family. The matriarch side of the family is the name of Finan. All came from County Sligo. We have cousins in County Sligo with the sir name Henry on the Finan side. No verbal history of royalty or large lands. The only lands are modest homes. Not sure if they are owned or rented. Not something I wanted to ask people I just met.Ay information would be helpful.
