How to find what clan one belongs to

I was wondering what clan Irish Clan i belong to.
My gradfathers parents imagrated to the United State and there last name is Horne.
My grandfather has passed on so I can't ask him.
Any help would be appreciated.

respectfully' with a name like Mc Leod i think you are more than likely to have originated from Scotland,
at some point in the past.

My last name is Lee. My Great Great Grandfathers both came from Ireland. One name William Lee and the other name Dennis McNiff.

Hi Rich,

depends from where your grandfather came - if Tipperary, a place called Toor, near Newport, then we're probably related. This is highly likely, as there were a lot of Lees there in the 18th and 19th centuries.

However, there's a lot of Lees - different sect, I believe - in County Galway.

And then there's the ones in Offaly!

Not counting the few in Cork and scattered elsewhere..

my surname is McNiff and i can only trace my family back to yorkshire so far, everyone keeps telling me that McNiff is half Scottish and half Irish does anyone no what clan McNiff belongs to and if there is a tartan for McNiff because i cant find it any where.
